Eye cream!

Posted by Rachel Wood on October 30th, 2009

eye cream Eye cream! I’ve always been a little sceptical about eye creams. I find they promise you all the hope in the world -" no more puffiness, wrinkles be gone & say good bye to dark circles" but only leave you disappointed. You just get left with a bathroom full of half used jars and tubes of product you’ll never use again. I’ve tried so many over the years.

Some gave an ok pay off before I was able to add concealer on top to mask unwanted eye bags but it was only a short term solution. I wanted to find if there really are any miracle type products that can help. I made it my mission to find a good eye cream or gel and I couldn’t believe it-I found two.

Rodial Glamtox Eye Light(1) Eye cream!

The first was Rodial Glamtox Eye Light. I first was introduced to this product when Rodial kindly gave me some skin care to use backstage at Jasper Garvida’s show at On/Off, It’s very light weight and worked great under the models makeup. This product is perfect if you tend to get bags. I find its better to use a light weight gel than heavy creams on a puffy area. Best of all, it helped keep dark circles at bay. After a few weeks of using it I noticed a HUGE difference. If a product can help dark circles during London Fashion week – I’m sold!!

The second product is Dr. Kadir- Exclusive Organic Eye Cream. This is a super product if you’re worrying about fine lines and amazing if your skin is on the dryer side. I tend to use this product at night- pat gently around the eye area. I have found after a few week of using this cream the fine lines around my eye area look smoother and the skin does look plumper and feels amazing. Supposedly Madonna’s a big fan of Dr Kadir’s products.

The only downside to these two choices is that they are a little bit more on the pricey side but these products are worth the splurge!

Assisting at London Fashion Week

SanaZod LondonFashionWeek Sept09 Assisting at London Fashion Week

Fortunately this September I had the opportunity to assist Stylist Rebekah Roy again at London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010! The shows I assisted at were The Ones to Watch, Jasper Garvida, Alice Palmer, Harriet’s Muse, Fashion Shenzhen and William Tempest.

Friday 18th September: The Ones to Watch showcasing 4 new designers Ada Zanditon, Dean Quinn, Hermione de Paula & Marko Mitanovski. The backstage area was quite chaotic as there were 4 different designers with about 12 looks each. I assisted closely with Marko Mitanovski’s collection, as there were lots of garments to each look and very theatrical hair and makeup to work with!

Saturday 19th September: Jasper Garvida presentation at the On/Off venue. The collection was very colourful with some multi coloured crochet pieces and a lot of detailed evening wear. Fittings ran smoothly but I left to go to the next show and set up, so I didn’t get to actually see the presentation but I heard it ran well!

Alice Palmer then showcased her new knitwear collection. The pieces were absolutely beautiful. Alice Palmer collaborated with jewellery designer’s Fannie Schiavoni S/S 10 collection (which I love!)

I got the opportunity to see a couple of fashion shows during the Friday and Saturday, which I really enjoy doing!

Sunday 20th September: Harriet’s Muse presentation took place. This year they were showcasing their Spring Summer ’10 collection on 13 black mannequins with 2 models. This was my first ever experience dressing mannequins which was interesting! I particularly liked the use of belts/corsets draped across the mannequin’s shoulders. Stuck around for the presentation, which seemed a great success!

I then saw the Alexandra Agrover Presentation, which featured a short film and lots and lots of black! Even black liquorice!

I also had the opportunity to see this years Merit Award designer David Koma’s show.

Monday 21st September: Fashion Shenzhen are 3 Chinese Fashion Designers Xiendier, Ground Show and Tangy and they have not shown in London before now. Two of the designers had 12 looks each and the other designer had 24 looks which made for 4 changes per model- being very organised helped fittings run efficiently! There was definitely a language barrier between the designer and us working and there were even translators but luckily this did not stop the show being effective.

Straight afterward was the call time for last years Merit Award designer, William Tempest showcasing his Spring Summer 2010 collection that was stunning in corals, charcoal and metallic. I particularly loved the addition of handbags! Everything was very organised and particularly calm back stage- which made for a wonderful end to a chaotic week!

Yet again I’d like to thank Rebekah Roy for giving me the opportunity to help out at London Fashion Week- the experience that I have gained during the past 2 seasons is so invaluable!

Backstage at Jasper Garvida at London Fashion Week

LondonFashionWeek SS10 JasperGarvida 7 Backstage at Jasper Garvida at London Fashion Week

I’ve been working with Jasper Garvida as his stylist: we shot a look book, made a video, had a press day and finally a presentation at On/Off this London Fashion Week!  We had so much fun, for our presentation we had some of the girls that I worked with from Britain’s Next Top Model, Jasper was the winner of Project Catwalk 2008 so it was a great fusion of fashion tv and real live fashion!

I love working with Jasper not just because he’s such a great cook or Canadian but I just love his designs and how he works.

I know that I talk alot about how important the team is but it’s so true – you’re only as good as the weakest member – so it’s great when you have a strong team. Herman Ho at Headmasters did the hair direction and Rachel Wood did the makeup – but this show was about the entire team right down to marketing with the lovely Yukun Zhao! It’s like one big family.

In London Jasper studied Fashion Design at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design. After graduating, Jasper was head designer for Michiko Koshino Couture before moving to work on high-street brands from the Arcadia Group (Wallis, Miss Selfridge, Evans, Dunnes), Jane Norman, Monsoon, ASOS.com and River Island
