This story was Inspired by Queen Boudicca haunting Kings Cross St Pancreas. I styled this story a while back but couldn’t show you the images until now. It was shot by Elisabeth Hoff at The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel for a charity project titled ‘Hidden Gems’ in aid of the children’s charity The Variety Club. The images were used for a book and exhibition.

I’ve known Jasper Garvida for quite a few years, and recently I had the chance to visit Jasper in his new East London studio. Jasper has always been passionate about embellishment and this season with the Olympics just ahead of us he’s used lots of silver and gold with black and white. His S/S 2012 collection is called Autour d’un Point, named after a painting by Frantisek Kupka which is also the inspiration for the collection.
I like Jasper’s collection beacause the looks are sexy and strong without being revealing. The clothes are easy to wear – they have built in style, and it’s easy to recognize a Jasper Garvida dress. You can imagine most of his garments on the red carpet as they are perfect for celebrities.

This was the second season that I’ve styled for Jasper Garvida but it was his first catwalk show at London Fashion Week! The collection was art deco inspired using silks, knit, cashmere and of course Jasper couldn’t resist his signature style and embelished a few of the looks!
Jasper thinks big, there were over sixty pieces in his collection which we edited down for the show. There are layers, and hats and gloves – lots of work for the dressers and about 3 or 4 changes for the models so it’s a busy back stage. Everyone knows what they’re doing and what’s expected of them so it always runs quite smoothly.

Lan Nguyen created the make up look inspired by 1920’s with a modern feel, creating a matte base with beautiful eyebrows and rich coloured lips.

The call time for most shows is usually about 4 hours before show time. This gives hair and makeup just enough time get the models ready. There is also a run through before the show so that that models know what they are doing and the music can be played. If there are any clothing or model changes we try to fit it in between hair and makeup! Most of my work is done before the actual show, the running order of the models and who’s wearing what etc. You just have to be prepared that anything can happen on the day and make sure everything runs smoothly!
