I was at Elite Models in London today for a meeting and saw this very cool height chart – I never thought a model agency would have a custom branded height chart! I’m styling a show for the Elite Model Look 2011, which features a selection of Elite’s newest models. It should be quite exciting for all the new models as it will be their very first fashion show. The contest was started in 1983…
…and to enter you have to be 172 cm or 5 feet 6.4304 inches!

The show day was quite fun and exciting for the models. We had our fittings in the morning and everyone gets measured. Then we had some down time, signing contracts and having a bit of lunch. Then of course the girls practice walking down the catwalk in their heels – not any easy task! The girls get more stressed as the day goes on.
The winner has a great opportunity – to go to Brazil to participate in the Ford Super Model of the World. It could change the girl’s life! So it’s really a fun show to style because something great is going to happen to someone and that doesn’t happen at every fashion show.

The clothes for the show were beautiful and luxurious. They were all from Jaeger – the British heritage brand – perfect for finding the UK supermodel!

Lan Nguyen was the head makeup artist with her team of assistants from AOFM!

Tim Furssedonn from Toni & Guy created the look for the hair.

The only bad part about styling a show is that you never get to watch the show except maybe on a little monitor backstage.

Me (in the middle) and my wonderful assistants Amelia and the super cool Sana Zod. They have worked backstage on so many fashion shows that they are truly seasoned professionals!

The dressers, hair and make up all backstage waiting to find out the winner!

The models backstage waiting in anticipation!! Who will be the UK winner? Stay tuned for the next post! Ok, it’s just below this one, so you don’t have to wait any longer…

Daisy Toogood (on the left) won 2nd place, in the middle is Ford Super Model of the World UK winner Sadie Phelps and in 3rd place, on the right, is Sunnygirl Senjack! The evening was MC’d by Frances Card and the judging panel included Dolly Jones, editor of Vogue.com, designer William Tempest, Courtney Blackman of FBC and Iris Iminier of Ford Models Paris.
This photo was taken backstage as soon as Sadie came back off the catwalk. She was completely surprised and caught of guard. She wanted to win but didn’t expect it! Now she’s off to the final part of the competition in Brazil. Let’s hope she wins!
Sadie Phelps is 19, and a student at UCL.

For the past few days load of girls having been lining up for casting for the Ford Models Supermodel of the World UK Search. It’s not any easy decision – there are so many great girls but so few with that special something! The UK winner – who will be crowned in London on the 3rd of November – will then go on to compete against the other international winners to take home the Supermodel of the World title.
Most of the girls are quite nervous at the casting – for many of them it’s the first casting they’ve ever been too! Lots of mums with daughters – it’s quite nice actually. I think when you want to be a model you need to be confident and if you have support it’s just great! Modeling is just not an easy job – it’s looks easy and glamorous but that’s the job, to make it look easy! Most people get anxious going to a job interview but just think – a model can go to 12 more more casting i.e. job interviews per day!

Vogue.com’s Dolly Jones, designer William Tempest and Reaya Goldman, competition producer and Ford model scout will be the judges at the fashion show. The 12 finalists will participate in a fashion show styled by me with head makeup artist Lan Nguyen and hair by Tim Furssedonn from Toni & Guy.
I’ve already selected the clothes from the A/W collection of Jaeger and there are so many beautiful pieces. It should be a fun show!
