I went to visit the new A/W 10 collection of Uggs at their Covent Garden store. I actually didn’t expect the new collection to be so on trend. When I think of Uggs I really think of the classic Uggs but they had biker style boots, riding inspired boots and lots of great wedges!
I love these Ugg Clog Boots. They are so cosy and have sheepskin in the footbed, making the boot very comfortable, and the wooden outsole has a molded rubber bottom for traction.
The flip flop is starting to grow on me. I’ve noticed lots of women wearing Havaianas on the tube in the morning instead of trainers. Maybe it’s beause they’re lighter and fit in your handbag easily if you’re going to change into a pair of heels later on. The simple flip flop is really a fashion statement on it’s own; it’s an essential part of your summer wardrobe, and if your high heels are too much it’s a quick shameless change.
I’m still hesitant of wearing the flip flop in the city – London streets are so dirty but the desire for true summerwear and baring all is hard to resist.
Like most women, I adore shoes. I also adore embellishment and I love nothing more when the two collide. Last week I went to a party in aid of Aruna Seth shoes. The party was at celeb hang-out Whiskey Mist in Mayfair and consisted of pink cocktails, pink cupcakes and dazzling shoes – the perfect night if you ask me.
I’d never seen a pair of Aruna Seth shoes before but it was love at first sight. They are gorgeous and perfect for a special occasion. Some verge slightly on the Paris Hilton side of glitz but perfect for any magpies out there (I’m a self-confessed magpie).
Aruna Seth is a new generation ‘It’ girl and her father founded a footwear empire over forty years ago – very handy. She studied at London College of Fashion and has been surrounded by shoes her whole life and it seemed only natural to start her own collection.
I met Aruna on the night; she was lovely and happy posing for the photographers. She wore a simple black LBD and a pair of glamorous shoes (of course!) The party had a great buzz, a few celebrity guests arrived late in to the evening and cocktails flowed thick and fast.
My personal favourites from the night were the Nia Frills Black satin heels, perfect to dress up with your New Years Eve dress or with jeans for an elegant look. They cost £395.00 but if you weigh the price tag up against the cost per wear I’m sure they will be a worthy investment.
Now I can’t decide whose more at fault for my love of shoes; Cinderella, Carrie Bradshaw or Aruna Seth? Hmmmm…..
The shoes are available in exclusive stores worldwide, including Browns London and Botticelli in New York.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but here goes… I want a pair of thigh high boots. I don’t know what has come over me, I might have watched Pretty Woman too many times or I could have gone mad but I want some thigh-high boots, and I want a pair now!
Thigh highs were seen all over the aw 09 catwalks, from Gucci to Marni, Prada to Stella McCartney and at first I didn’t think they’d catch on but it seems that thigh high boots are proving to be a success on, and off the catwalk. Rihanna has been seen wearing a pair, and Madonna wore hers to the Met Gala Ball earlier this year.
Now I promise I won’t sport this look with a Vivian-esque blonde bob, and nor will I go hanging around street corners. I will opt for a flat pair, in black leather (preferably the gorgeous Russell and Bromley ones) and I will tuck them in to my jeans and wear them in winter with a grey military style coat. I’ll make sure my hair is natural and my make up low key; being a blonde puts me at a high risk of looking like a wag. On an evening I will wear my boots with a black body con skirt and a boyfriend blazer, smoky eyes and studded accessories. Ooh I’m getting all excited.
Now there are two causes for concern regarding my desire for thigh highs and first is my size; I’m five foot four and there is a big danger that these boots could wear me – crotch high boots were not the style I was going for. The second is practicality; getting home after a night out on the razzle dazzle and having no Richard Gere to get me out of the darned thing is a worry.
Let’s just hope that this time next year I won’t look back at my pictures and regret my winter boot purchase, I don’t want to think ‘those thigh high boots I brought – big mistake. Big. Huge!’
