I’ve worked with Alice Palmer for several seasons and this season I’m particularly excited about her collection. The colour pallete is black, teal, blue, purple and shocking pink and every piece has gold or bronze in it. It’s very glam rock and inspired by the early 70’s and David Bowie. The collection is also inspired by op art, mainly the works of Bridget Riley and Valsarely. Op Art or optical art are images that create the illusion of pattern and movement.
I love the structured jackets and how easy the fringe dresses are to wear. It’s hard to believe that some of these pieces are knit! This collection is fun, sexy and luxurious.

123 Bethnal Green Road is one of my favourite shops. Its supports many young designers, including designers that I’ve worked with like Alice Palmer and Ada Zandition. The shop is a grade II listed building and it has four floors. The first time I went to 123 it was for the Amelia Magazine book launch and the event was in the Bunker Cafe, which is in the basement. Since then the back room on the ground floor is now a pop up shop presently featuring Bolongaro Trevor. The pop up shop changes on a regular basis and there is always new stock so it’s always worth visiting 123 to see what’s new!

I’ve worked with Alice Palmer for a few seasons and she’s one of my favourite people. Knitwear designers are a breed of their own. Alice often tells me that knitwear designers have their heads in the clouds and that they work at their own pace.
Alice is visionary as she’s constantly working on new techniques and ways to develop her three dimensional knits. Her monrchrome collection explores the ideas of negative and positive space – not an easy thing to do in knitwear. Many of her designs are very detailed and intricate and still very wearable.

Alice Palmer will be showing her collection on February 22 at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. The collection is looking quite amazing but I can’t tell you too much about it. She’s also just made an outfit for Skin of Skunk Anansie and she did a guerilla knitting project for Fashion 156! There is some amazing graffiti outside Alice’s studio and she knitted this giant worm! After London Fashion Week Alice is creating a dress that will have hearts in it, to be auctioned off for the British Heart Foundation.
