Alice Palmer - Fashion Fringe Finalist!

AlicePalmer_John Galliano_JadeKang Alice Palmer - Fashion Fringe Finalist!

Jade Kang, Alice Palmer and Corrie Nielsen have just been announced as the three finalists for Fashion Fringe 2010 - here they are last night celebrating the great news with John Galliano. The finalists will show their collections in September at the Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden catwalk during London Fashion Week!

Fashion Fringe offers something that every young designer hopes for and needs. The finalists will undergo an intensive mentoring programme from industry experts and sponsors in all subjects surrounding the industry and business, from PR to marketing, logistics to sales, brand identity to individuality, and from law to finance. During July and August the designers are given a budget along with studio space at the London College of Fashion to create their capsule collection! It’s difficult enought for most designers to produce two collections a year but having a mentor like Galliano, who produces 35 collections a year including ready-to-wear Galliano and Dior, Haute Couture Dior and John Galliano menswear, is definitely a big win for all three finalists!

Felicities Press Event at The Hoxton Factory

Felicities_PressDay_London_1 Felicities Press Event at The Hoxton Factory

Some press events feel more like a celebration of fashion than just a work event. The Felicities press day took place at the Hoxton Factory - it’s a new photographic studio and the home of Random Magazine in London’s east end. The event was a success - delicious Salto lemon cocktails, Label M manicures in super bright colours (I tried Kiwi) and Shea butter hand massages!

At press days you have the opportunity to see the designer’s whole collection for the upcoming season and the best part about this event was that you got to meet all the designers and they were able to tell you about their collection!

Some of my favourite designers like Alice Palmer (above) and Stefán Orschel-Read were there!

This is a ‘Barbie’ cake wearing a yummy dress by Jacob Kimmie in collaboration with Molly Bakes. There were loads of mini cupcakes, which seemed to disappear quickly, but the cocktails kept flowing!!!

Alice Palmer - Autumn Winter 2010

Posted by Rebekah Roy on February 24th, 2010

I love styling for Alice Palmer, I’ve styled shows for several seasons and each year everything just keeps getting stronger and stronger! Alice is a very cool girl and I don’t know of many knitters who use a draping technique or who are quite sculptural - this is not your grandmother’s knitwear!

We don’t tend to think of knitwear as cool or edgy but Alice has managed to do just that. She used over 2000 studs in this collection - which was inspired by Batman! The studded tights make the collection look very edgy and even some of the shoes have been studded - but there are many ways to wear these dresses. They really can go from day to night. Also the separates can easily be incorporate into ones wardrobe - update your favourite boyfriend jacket with a knitted skirt, or try a cape over skinny jeans! Ooh, I can’t wait for all these looks to go into production!
