Whenever I’ve styled plus size models, they always seem really happy and healthy. I did this shoot with plus size model Louise MacCallum - a size 14. It’s hard to believe that a size 14 is a "plus size" model when the average woman in the UK is a size 16.
According to a recent study more than 43% of size 14 (UK) women said they were as happy as they could be with their career, while almost a third say they couldn’t be more content with their love life.
Second happiest, according to the research by Special K, are size 12 women, with almost three quarters saying they are completely satisfied with their friendships. 45% also enjoy a very successful career.
The study was done by Special K, and their spokeswoman said: ‘It’s great to discover that being a size zero doesn’t necessarily bring you happiness. Our research shows that the curvier size 14 woman is much more comfortable with their shape and has a happier outlook on life.’
The poll also revealed that a staggering 48 per cent of all women aren’t happy with their weight.
HAPPIEST DRESS SIZES
1. 14
2. 12
3. 8.
4. 16.
5. 10
LEAST HAPPY DRESS SIZES
1. 24
2. 20
3. 22
4. 6
5. 18
I think the timing of the study is great - most of us make New Year’s resolutions, but I’m not sure how many of us really keep them. Often our decisions are overly ambitious and so we set ourselves up for failure. I don’t know why that is, but maybe one of the reasons we fail is we’re not sure of the facts in the first place. It’s important to think about what make us happy - and happiness changes. So what if someone told you happiness is a size 14?

This is an unretouched picture of Jessica Alba and on the right is the final version for Campari shot by Mario Testino. Everyone always seems so surprised that photos are retouched but a photo is really just a raw image. Even still life images, mannequin and food shots are retouched. Digital enhancement is a one half of photography. It doesn’t mean that everything is fake and nothing is real.

I like the shoot. It’s very retro, Carmen Miranda -ish and was shot in Malibu. Jean Paul Gaude art directed the shoot:
This is the 10 year anniversary of the prestigious Campari Calendar. There are only 9,999 copies of the calendar.
When I was little one of my best friend’s parents would often drink Campari on ice - it seemed very grown up to me. What’s in Campari? It has sixty ingredients, It was based on artichoke extracts and mixed with fruit and cochineal dye, giving it that trademark reddish colour. It was created by Gaspare Campari between 1862 and 1867. It is still made with it’s original ingredients as the recipe has remained a secret for almost 150 years!

This shoot was great fun. We shot at Wasps Stadium in High Wycombe. I had never been to a rugby stadium so I was really looking forward to it. We lucked out and had good weather too!
We had two professional rugby players, Sarah Marsh and Susan Cass and one model, Cassandra @ Bookings. Our athletes were amazing and they were able to fit into all the PR samples & their bodys were rock hard! They even both worked out before the shoot!
We were mainly focusing on the New Zealand brand Canterbury. They’re known for their great rugby wear but they also have some great cashmere tops! There are so many great sports brands but I wasn’t supposed to mix competitive brands, so it makes it a bit of a challenge – which is good actually!
