As Kate Nash’s stylist I got to interview her for The Industry’s first quarterly event at Swarovski Crystallized Lounge. Kate gives great interviews as she is very articulate and passionate about everything she does. One of the topics that was discussed was the lack of women in the music industry and how Kate is trying to change that. Kate’s started Rock ‘n’ Roll for Girls After School Music Club, which encourages young girls to write music and play instruments. She also teaches the girls that there are many types of beauty, and a lot of the questions were about how modern female pop stars are supposed to look according to the record labels.
It’s quite fun to interview someone that you know but it’s also challenging. You want to to let the audience know how amazing the person is. I tried to ask questions that I thought would interest the audience but I also asked Kate questions about things that I wanted people to know about her. When we think about musicans we usually just think about their music – which is obvious and normal but Kate always has quite a few different projects that she’s working on, including starting her own record label and acting in films recently!
The video of the interview will be posted exclusively next week to Harper’s Bazaar.

The Swarovski Elements Wallpaper Launch was one of the most magical events that I’ve been to. It was held at 33 Portland Place where so many amazing events have taken place, and so many film and video projects have been shot – including The Kings Speech.

The house was like a dream, with an amazing array of chocolates and miniature cakes served with champagne by perfectly groomed waiters. Every detail was perfect.

There were rose petals and crystals pouring out of the fireplace, angel wings resting on the settee and a magic flute – it was like you were walking through a dream.

Swarovski Elements is designed by wallpaper designer Karen Beauchamps with the in-house Swarovski Elements team. The collection consists of 9 different styles and retails from £280 to £740 per roll. The designs were quite beautiful and opulent. Several of the designs use a layering technique called the Crystal Strata, which creates an intense and sparkling effect. You can imagine the wallpaper transforming any environment but I also couldn’t help thinking they would make such beautiful backdrops for photo shoots!

I had the pleasure of meeting with Diego Dolcini at the Swarovski Elements event in London. Diego studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano and has a master’s degree in Fashion Design at Domus Academy. He’s done many collaborations:Emilio Pucci, Bulgari, Tom Ford for Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. Diego has been using Swarovski Crystals for over 15 years and he recently collaborated with Swarovski Elements creating these shoes for the Jawaher exhibition.

Diego’ shoes are strong and sexy. There are 45-style in his new collection including the Swarovski-encrusted evening shoes. The collection was inspired by 1940s films “Casablanca” and “Citizen Kane” and as Diego first studied architecture it’s alway part of his inspiration: the modern architecture of Seattle’s public library and the Baha’i Centre in South Africa.

I was part of a panel discussion at a Swarovski Elements event. It was quite an interesting topic – fashion meets tradition and the abaya. On the panel from left to right was moderator Courtney Blackman, Rashid Al Khaja, the largest manufacturer of traditional wear in Dubai, fashion designer Ziad Antoun, Ute Schumacher, Swarovski’s head of trend and design, Rasha Khouri, the founder of Dia-Boutique.com, me and on my left was fashion designer Maria Grachvogel. It’s interesting to talk about how fashion can transcend culture and boundries.
The night before at Swarovski Crystalized (across from Liberty) there was a fashion show and party to celebrate the opening event of the Jawaher exhibition, which you can see there from from 20 Oct. – 1 Nov.

This was a quite a fun party to dress up for and in celebration I wore a wonderful dress from Falguni & Shane Peacock!
