Brian Rennie (left), Gant’s new Design Director, with Stefan Lindemann, Grazia’s Shopping Editor. Last night I went to a fabulous dinner at Sketch to celebrate Gant’s new creative director. – Brian Rennie. Brian Rennie was previously the designer behind legendary fashion house Escada. Brian is charming and you can’t help but adore him, not just because of his accent but because of his gentle demeanour. Brain and his partner had just finished building their dream house in Scotland, he was looking forward to enjoying a long, quite life there. Yet, somehow he couldn’t resist the temptation to work with Gant – he truly envisioned their potential and now finds himself living and working in Stockholm. The new collection has some wonderful tartan shirts – influenced by Rennie’s Scottish heritage – he’s originally from Dundee. He’s added a long dress to the Cruise Collection, the whole collection has been updated creating a luxury lifestyle brand. Gant History 1914, Bernard Gant left the Ukraine to go the US 1941 The Gant family starting making shirts for Brooks Brothers, Manhattan Shirts and J. I write a monthly page called “Dress for Your Shape” for Health and Fitness magazine. Each month I focus on a different sport, and while it’s important to dress appropriately for each sport what’s really most important is that you dress for yourself!
There is so much great sportswear out there that you should never have to wear an old t-shirt to the gym. I love sportswear. I don’t tend to wear much sportswear outside the gym, but I do feel great walking to and from the gym in my kit; actually I feel a bit powerful! The gym is one of those rare places where you actually do something just for yourself. So if you’re going to feel good why not look good too?

This shoot was great fun. We shot at Wasps Stadium in High Wycombe. I had never been to a rugby stadium so I was really looking forward to it. We lucked out and had good weather too!
We had two professional rugby players, Sarah Marsh and Susan Cass and one model, Cassandra @ Bookings. Our athletes were amazing and they were able to fit into all the PR samples & their bodys were rock hard! They even both worked out before the shoot!
We were mainly focusing on the New Zealand brand Canterbury. They’re known for their great rugby wear but they also have some great cashmere tops! There are so many great sports brands but I wasn’t supposed to mix competitive brands, so it makes it a bit of a challenge – which is good actually!

Been quite busy lately. Spent last weekend in Dorset. I was doing a sportswear shoot in a field. As you know I prefer the city but I do love sports/fitness wear; the fabrics can be so inovative, it’s amazing to think how fabic/technology has influence athletic performance. In 1954 the German Nation Team won the Football World Cup for the first time, wearing Adidas shoes with revolutionary screw-in studs. 450,000 pairs of shoes were produced in that year!
I didn’t stay at a grand hotel this time but it was so quaint. I stayed at a neighbours house (who I didn’t know but the photographer did) and our room looked like it was at someones Nan’s house, which it probably was as the old lady was very sweet. It looks cuter than it was, but I slept well. I shared the room with Athena Skouvakis an mua; I worked with her ages back so it was good to meet up with her again. It felt like a sleep over! It’s such a girly room.

I woke up to the mooing!

Misha, our model was so much fun. She studied gymnastics and specialized using the ribbon, it was beautiful to watch her using it, it has such a magical, whimsical feel about. I’ve watched it on TV before it’s such so much more beautiful to watch it in front of you.
