I love makeup but don’t usually like shopping for it and I often rely on the makeup artists that I work with for their advice and suggestions. This time I just wanted to venture out on my own so I thought I’d pay Illamasqua on Beak Street a visit. The staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable. It’s surprising how often you can go to a cosmetic counter and you just feel like the staff is trying to push products on you. The makeup artist was so good that I just wanted to buy everything (it doesn’t hurt that the products are so reasonably priced too!) I’m also looking forward to the launch of ‘Toxic Nature‘, their new makeup range.

A few nights ago, I was invited to the opening of a new NYC flagship store for ultra cool cosmetic company NARS. The new store is located at 413 Bleecker Street. It’s a great area for a shop to be placed in Manhattan as its on the same street as Marc Jacobs and Sex & the City famed cupcake emporium – Magnolia Bakery. Some of NARS iconic products are Orgasm Blusher (a coral infused with gold shimmer), Jungle Red Lipstick (a super sexy retro red) & Body Glow (a golden shimmer body oil). I also like to carry a bottle of NARS eye makeup remover in my makeup kit. It’s fab at taking everything off the eye lid with out leaving a sticky residue, so you can easily apply eye shadow on the lid straight after. A must stop and shop destination spot for anyone visiting NYC.

I’m so excited for MAC’s Wonder Woman collection! Showcasing 4 gorgeous lipsticks including its iconic Russian Red plus Marquise d’ (cream peach), Spitfire (bright magenta) & Heroine (vibrant bronze). The packaging and advertisements for this new range are so fun. I remember as a little girl thinking Linda Carter, the actress who played Wonder Woman on TV at the time was so beautiful; even with her cartoon like makeup of blue eye shadow and bright red lip s- some how it just worked. What I wouldn’t give to have an invisible airplane and a lasso that can make people tell the truth… I guess I’ll just have to settle for one of MAC’s cute little makeup compacts!
