Today I noticed a man in the tube that was dressed head to toe in D&G. You could tell he loved his outfit. OK, he wasn’t nearly as fab as the D&G underwear model but he was tall and slim and suited the brand. I wish I had a picture to show you but sometimes I just don’t feel right stepping into someone’s personal space and taking a photo.
He was listening to music and grooving in his own little world. The branding was subtle but it was there. Sunglasses logos are rarely understated, but the shoes, jeans and jacket only had a small but recognizable logo.
I rarely see anyone in head to toe branding except models on the catwalk and the occasional small dog. This man did have his own style, and he really did love his look (you could tell he did) and he really went for it. I’m not one to dress head to toe in a brand but what I do like is when someone is committed to their style. I don’t have to like their taste but I do admire people who take a risk and commit!
It’s starting to feel cooler and it’s definitely autumn, and I like to be cosy. You might not think of me as a flannel-pyjama-wearing kind of girl, but I am - and I’m picky about how soft the flannel is. Most of my pyjamas come from John Lewis but this was the first time I ordered them online and they are perfect!
John Lewis just launched their website, selling fashion brands online, and it’s quite good. (I’ve heard Selfridges is launching a site soon too!) I’m very much in favour of shopping online. Clothing I find quite easy to purchase but I do like to know as much detail as possible and I really like when sites include the fabric and washing instructions. I think M&S has been doing this for some time and luxury sites seem to have the most detailed copy. Anyway there are very few sites where I could buy a sewing machine, some pin boxes and flannel pyjamas but John Lewis’ site is one of them!
No girl wants wrinkly cleavage, as it can age you more than anything.
Dita Von Teese says her greatest beauty secret is to stay away from sunshine: "I never go sunbathing. My worst fear is looking down and seeing brown, wrinkly cleavage. It will get white and wrinkly, but there is no need to rush it." (source)
Wrinkles between and above the breasts are caused by sun damage, so wear sunscreen, but wrinkles can also be caused by your sleeping habits, especially if you sleep on your side.
I’m not too sure if I’d use either of these products but they’re out there if your afraid of cleavage wrinkles!
There is the The Intimia™ Breast Pillow. it’s a bit like a bra but with out the cups and it doesn’t matter what position you sleep in it moves with the body.
The second product is Kush support and it seems like you have to be a true-side sleeper for it to work!
I went to the opening of the new exhibit at the Fashion and Textile Museum. I find the history of underwear so fascinating! At the exhibition you can see the first patented bra from 1915, and anti-cellulite knickers and a bust-firming bra. It’s interesting when I’m shopping for something like vintage 50’s prom dresses - I’m attracted to the nipped-in waist, but really am I wearing the right underwear to make this dress fit perfectly? Probably not. The exhibition got me thinking about how many different kinds of bras there are: like the demi bra or balconette can mold the breast like two scoops of ice cream. There are also bras for compressions and bras to lift and create cleavage - it gets you thinking of breasts as an accessory!
There were a selection of bras from M&S, Triumph, La Perla, Christian Dior, Myla and Wonderbra just to name a few

I still don’t understand why so many women are wearing ugly and ill-fitting bras. Most major department stores do bra fittings and you don’t have to pay a lot of money to find something that fits.
Bras at Marks and Spencer range from £8.00- £25-00
I find women usually say "this is just an old bra I don’t know why I’m wearing it". Didn’t someone once say wear nice knickers in case you’re ever in an accident and have to go to the hospital? Wasn’t good underwear just etiquette?
I’m not sure if it’s laziness or just pure neglect. Wouldn’t you want your breasts to be supported by nice pretty fabric? I think we get lazy about our bodies. We complain that our breast are too big or too small or have changed shape… We take our health, our breasts for granted until something happens.
Bras don’t last forever: the elasticity starts to go and then it’s time to get a new bra. Don’t forget to tighten the straps - most women seem to forget that the straps are adjustable for a reason. Hand washing your bras might be a bit of a pain but they will last longer, if you do throw them in the washing machine at least put them in a mesh lingerie bag. The right bra can completely change how a garment hangs on your body. A bra can lift your breasts up giving you a waist and longer torso. A padded bra can give you great shape in a sweater. It all depends on what you need - you’ll have different bras that are worn with different looks and your needs will be different depending on your bra size.
Rigby and Peller dress the Queen so you can be certain they know what they’re doing. The black Empreinte Bettina Underwired Moulded T-Shirt Bra is £64.95. It’s essential to have a t-shirt bra as it won’t make lines under fine jersey. Depending on your breast size and shape the Huit Anouk Padded Plunge Bra with removable pads will work with a low cut dress or V-neck and it’s £43.95. The style of bras that you purchase will be determined by your breast size and shape and your own personal style.
