Some things are not for everyone, but isn’t that what fashion is all about – personal style? Well, I love these Chanel shoes and yes if I had the chance I would wear them. They are sequine goatskin open-toed shoes with a light bulb as a heel that actually works!

Over-the-knee statement boots. You’ll have seen them at: Badgley Mischka, Akris, Fendi and Halston. On the high street check out Office. These boots are easier to wear than you think. Wear it with a longer skirt, skinny jeans, leggings or tights. Should you buy a pair? Will you see them around next season? You will but wear them well. A soft earthy colour will work great with Boho Chic and Black Suede will look great with Romantic Goth. Just be chic, elegant not cheap don’t think Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman….

Although not my favourite you’ll see lots of fringe at Gucci, Balmain, Anna Sui and this pair is from Christian Louboutin. On the high street check out Aldo’s. Fringe is all about personal style and it takes someone with true style to make this look work. It’s more than just your everyday Boho; take it to the next level and think hippy luxe.

The shoe boot has been around for a couple of seasons, but they are so versatile they have staying power. Will you see them next season? Why wait? I love this Fendi boot with the bronze trim, £385.00 at Browns. If the high street’s more your style River Island has a large selection. We know ankle boots look great with jeans but wear them with opaque tights and dresses for an autumn look.

I’m a skin care and mascara addict but when I’m on a shoot I love to ask the make-up artist for some tips – who knows better than a working professional!
Celebrity make-up Rachel Wood shares her Top 5 Beauty Trends for Autumn/Winter 08!
1- Brows, groomed but full, put away your tweezers and say hello Brooke Shields circa 1980 style brows to frame your peepers! Use one of the many fab coloured brow gels out there to keep them tamed but think more Jennifer Connolly then Marlene Dietrich when giving them shape.
2- Full on Colour for Lips, for this A/W I’m really into cream or satin textures that have vibrant colour rather than a metallic or shimmer that diffuses colour…save that gloss for the Spring. Hues of Cherry Red, Funky Fuchsia and Breakfast at Tiffany’s Orange add a bit of brightness to dull winter skin.
3- Glam Balm by Rodial- this all purpose wonder product has about a 100 different uses, love it for the models over worked dry skin back stage when working on the shows for Fashion week, it plumps up lips and I love it dabbed around my eyes when flying. Glam Balm rehydrates where you need it most. For make-up ideas add a touch of shimmery loose eye shadow pigment and blend on the eyes or cheekbones for glossy colour. (Hmm, I keep hearing about this product, it’s £62.00 but I just might have to try it!)
4-Bad Gal Lash Plum- by Benefit. Plum and purples are huge this season and this mascara gives a touch of brightness to your eye colour plus the thick juicy brush that gives rock star lashes…I can’t wait till this new product hits the shelves!
5- Goth but not as we know it, moody mysterious eyes, subtle greys, blended black liner and put away the fake tan, skin: keep it pale and interesting!

I think there are so many great trends for this Autumn/Winter and Romantic Goth is one of my favourite. It’s so easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. I know people either love or hate ruffles but this trend isn’t so much about being girly as it’s more about being strong & sexy. You might already have something in your wardrobe that’s part of this trend. It might be a ruffle blouse or lace top – and it doesn’t just have to be black, it might be purple or even turquoise.

I love the new Dr Martens – Black Patent high-heeled boots only £75.00! They’re perfect for the romantic Goth trend.

Or would you rather pay £375.00 for these lovley Fendi short patent lace up boots?

London is a great city for lingerie, there are so many styles and it’s all quite playful. I went to the Playful Promises Press Day; they were featuring their own lingerie Playful Promises, Kiss Me Deadly and Fairy Goth Mother. Kiss me Deadly has great vintage/retro inspired pieces. Their garter belt straps are just a little wider making them not only more practical but quite sexy. Lulu and Lush is a new label created by Fairy Goth Mother – they have a shop in Spitafield market and they were showing off some very girly filly knickers! Playful Promises who also sells in Top Shop has a selection of zodiac satin knickers and some great swimwear covers ups.
What is lingerie without cake? These girls looked great; they are from Betty Blythe Fine Food Pantry. I love there matching black and white dresses!

And a little burlesque dancing to accompany an afternoon tea! I really like garter belts and love them for shoots but it’s not something I tend to wear in everyday life. I have a friend who prefers hold ups to tights and on occasion she adds a garter belt so they don’t fall down. A garter belt is one of those very sexy and functional accessories.

At this event there was a table full of tempting ribbons, bows, feathers, lace and lots of great haberdashery. You could sit and customize a waist cincher, garter belt or frilly knickers – how fun! Customization has become so important in fashion. Adding a bow or a ribbon here or there can really make your garment unique and special. Stylist spend quite a bit of time customizing garments for shoots and videos. I also like to over dye things. Do you ever customize your own clothing?

I like going to the Debenham’s press day, it’s quite impressive as it was in a big marquee right in central London. They show womenswear, lingerie, accessories and homeware. I usually like how it’s merchandised and the how each section is theme based.

I met Eric Van Peterson a few years ago, on a shoot. He was so kind and gentle. He’s originally from the States and after backpacking through Europe he moved to London where he met his wife Lyn at the original Hard Rock Cafe. He had a stall in Camden selling “objets d’art” and jewellery and later open a shop near Sloane Square. In 1981 he and his wife opened their Walton Street store and started creating their own jewellery designs. Their jewellery is very distinct so it’s not surprising that they have a large celebrity following including Cher, David Bowie, Goldie Hawn, Yasmin Le Bon, Michael Douglas and Ringo Starr.
Theo Fennell, Erikson Beamon & Eric Van Peterson all have collection for Debenhams.

This is titled New Goth.

I think we tend to forget or ignore how important department stores are in the fashion retail world. If you live outside a major city a department store can offer you the latest trends and since most of them have a concessions shops you have access to numerous designers and high street looks.
FYI:Debenhams has a total of 135 department stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland and 10 Desire by Debenhams stores, which are a new small store concept featuring a mix of womenswear, accessories, lingerie, cosmetics and childrenswear. Debenhams has a further 40 international franchise stores in 16 countries.

Designers at Debenhams include: Matthew Williamson, Betty Jackson, John Rocha, Jasper Conran, Julian MacDonald, Ben Di Lisi, Antoini & Alison and French Frost.
