Don’t get me wrong, I’ve thrown a few snowballs in my time and I’ve even been skiing on a school trip (I cried every day) but I’m just over this weather already. What I’m finding especially hard is the chore of getting ready for work. Please tell me I’m not the only one finding it tough? Working in the magazine world, every day I walk through the doors and wait for the lift and I’m stood there surrounded by glamour. The majority of the girls have style and elegance seeping from every pore; they have the latest designer handbag, they have perfectly coiffed hair and their immaculate fingernails are always painted in the ‘in’ colour for the season, FYI right now it’s one of the new Chanel shades - Inattendu is their current favourite (I can’t wait to get my hands on the ‘greige’ shade come the end of the January)
Anyway, as i was saying getting dressed is no mean feat. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a charity case - I can put an outfit together and I do usually have nicely painted nails. However, it’s this weather + work attire that I struggle with. To Ugg or not to Ugg that is the question. Uggs I find, are also Marmite, I personally dislike them but I see the benefits and right now those benefits are amazing! Jumpers are also tricky, in theory jumpers are great, you think you’ll look casual and chic but instead you just look a little bit chubby and a bit too hot once the office central heating kicks in.

It seems that every day for the past week I choose the drabbest items I can find, I put on the minimal amount of make-up, I do barely a thing with my hair and I just throw on as many layers as I can. There is no sight of a sparkly accessory or even a smile for that matter, I just go to work, come home, put my cosy pyjamas on and I sit and watch rubbish TV. I think I have Seasonal Affective Disorder with the trigger being snow.
I just want a spring in my step, I want the clocks to go forward and Summer to arrive, just the mere thought brings a smile to my face; I can’t wait for floral prints, 90’s denim, rucksacks, round sunglasses, Pimms, Wimbledon whites, strawberries, Neon shades, Coachella festival, beachy waves in my hair and a sunkissed glow on my face… ahhhh bliss.
For now, well I suppose a hot chocolate with whipped cream will have to do…

It’s supposed to be spring but the mornings are still quite chilly and I hate having cold feet. I recently got a pair of Emu Boots and just love them! I had no idea they would be so warm and I thought that my feet would look really big but they don’t.
The Emu boots are made from Australian sheepskin and lined with Australian merino wool. The sheepskin has natural insulation properties: the thick fleecy fibres on the inner part of the boots allow air to circulate and keep the feet at body temperature. This means that Emu boots can be worn without socks or tights even in colder weather. It’s these properties that have made them popular with surfers since the 70’s!
Cameron Diaz, Paris Hilton and Kirsten Dunst have been spotted wearing EMU boots.
Emu Facts
- Sheepskin is the world’s natural insulator, sheepskin breathes naturally.
- Sheepskin ‘wicks’ away 70% moisture thus preventing smelly feet. (Very important - no one likes anyone with smelly feet.)
- Sheepskin can absorb 30% of its own weight in moisture as opposed to synthetics that hold as little as 2%.
- Sheepskin is cool in summer, warm in winter.
- Sheepskin maintains even body temperature all year round
You can buy Emu boots online at The Nature Shop!

It’s always a challenge to know what shoes to wear, in London more so than most other places. The weather can change so many times during the day that I never feel quite appropriately dressed. I wore my WedgeWelly boots - which was great because not only did it rain but we had a huge hail storm which then turned into heavy rain.
I can’t tell you how much I hate having wet feet - it’s just miserable and I become annoying to be around because I’m so distraught . I was doing prep last week for a shoot and it was raining and my feet were soaked - but did I learn - the next day it was blue skies so I wore my shoes but of course when I got out of the tube there was a downpour. Will I ever learn? Well, yes - that’s why this weekend I’ve been out and about enjoying a croque-monsieur (without ham - so really it’s just a delicious grill cheese sandwich) with a cafe latte and perfectly dry feet!
I love my "Candy Girl" WedgeWelly boots and I’m thinking of getting another pair - I know black would be great and would work with everything but I’m kind of partial to the Python pair!

“These boots are made for walking and that’s just what they’ll do,” no one understands the chic sex appeal of a great pair of boots like Nancy Sinatra. Her infamous song celebrated the fabulous footwear and has been the mantra for all fashionistas strutting their fabulousness in boots. From the ankle to the thigh, from moccasins to leather this season there is no style that doesn’t come with a complimentary boot to complete their look. Whether you’re style is bohemian, sophisticated, or rocker-chic this is a wardrobe essential. From Christian Louboutin to Topshop boots are hot in the shops!
If you are not sure which style is right for you, remember that with boots, like all clothing it is all about the right cut. Knowing your body shape and what style suits you can take an outfit from acceptable to amazing! If you are on the shorter side, invest in a high-heeled pair which elongates the body. If you have thicker legs, avoid ankle or calf-length boots, instead try full-length boot which ends just above the knee. If you’re just looking to elongate then try this year’s must-have look and try the thigh-high boots. Long pull-on boots that are tight around the ankle give legs contour and length!
Ankle boots can be the perfect accessory to a dress. From a wool sweater dress to a cotton paisley dress ankle boots don’t have to be seasonal! They add a bit of gypsy flair to any outfit but are also perfect for contrasting more structured styles. Best of all they look fabulous with tucked in jeans! Perfect, for cold winter days when summer flats just won’t cut it. Some of the best ankle boots can be found right on the Highsteet; Topshop has one of the most fabulous collection of ankle boots which come in both flat and heeled styles. You can find these at Topshop.

The thigh-high boot is hot on the runways this season. It is sexy and suits nearly every shape as it elongates the body while spicing up any look. Whether with a dress or jeans, nothing looks stale with thigh-highs. Louboutin, Tory Burch, Stella McCartney and Gucci all have thigh-high boots this season that come in an array of colours and (faux) leathers. Want the same look on a budget? Chinese Laundry has a large array of boots that look virtually the same!
So fellow fashionistas find the boots which suit you and strut your stuff, because as Ms. Sinatra sang, “these boots were made for walking” and that just what you should do!

Looking for that perfect gift? How to avoid frostbite and not mess up your hair? Uggs has some great accessories. I’ve never been a massive Uggs fan but I’ve been warming up to them. I hate being cold and I don’t like to look ugly and anyone would look super cute in these earmuffs!!

£58 at Shudoo and you can still make a Christmas delivery if you order before noon on Dec 22nd!
I recently interviewed Leon from Shudoo, and here’s what he had to say about the company, which has is one of those rare internet success stories of a solid company that’s been around for years!
Can you tell me a bit more about the company?
Shudoo launched as Ugs & Kisses in 2004 by former Saracens rugby player Robbie Russell and his wife Claire. The company sold UGG boots, but has branched out into other boot brands (Blowfish, Bumper, Snowjoggers) and also shoes (Terry de Havilland, Roberto Botella and Steve Madden).
A new website will launch after the January sales.
What makes the company special?
By Spring 2009 we will have much more brands for both men and women. We’ve launched a blog SHUNEWS (http://shunews.shudoo.co.uk) which offers celebrity style news.
We offer special discounts and competitions to our newsletter subscribers.
How many people work there?
There are seven people at Shudoo. Customer service, management, marketing, content and operations.
Why shop there?
Free delivery (something so simple which is actually a rarity in online fashion), wide range, telephone customer service.
Has it been busier this season?
Yes. The UGG Classic Cardy has been the surprise success of the year.
