So Christmas is only a few days away & for those of you still struggling to find those last minute gifts, I have a few suggestions from my beauty wish list:
Candy Eye’d Eye Shadow Helper by Lime Crime
This is an amazing new eye shadow primer. The texture of this product is unreal. It helps to intensify pigment colours without changing the tone of the product. Its also gets more wear out of your eye makeup by helping the eye shadows to last longer on the lid. It’s definitely one of my favourite break-out products for 2010!

Make is Art Book- Creative Makeup Book by Jana Ririnui and Lan Nguyen.
A new addition of the fabulous, creative collaborative beauty book by AOFm. This addition has 70 new added pages to inspire you and get your creative cosmetic juices flowing. Available on the AOFM pro website http://www.aofmpro.com, from Soho bookstore in London or on Amazon.com
Lashes at Ey Lure
So many women these days crave that extra bit of lash but also want it to look like lush natural lashes. A lot of false lashes look too false. These lashes from Ey Lure are inexpensive and give natural enhancement to lashes. A perfect little stocking stuffer! Don’t forget to include a tube of Duo Adhesive!
Body Butter at The Body Shop
Nothing feels as soothing and luxurious on the skin as the Body Shops Body Butter. They come in so many delicious flavours but I am totally yearning for a tub of their new Spiced Vanilla. Sounds Sinfully yummy!

Apom pour Femme by Francois Kurkdjian Paris
I received a sample of this fragrance last New York Fashion week in a goody bag and have been obsessed with it ever since. It’s a beautiful scent that incorporates orange blossom, cedar and ylang-ylang. I wore it recently while working backstage at the Clothes Show in London and all the models kept commenting on how much they loved my perfume. A definite hit!

This past week I’ve been working on one of my favourite jobs of the year, The Clothes Show Live. I’ve been in charge of the makeup team in the main fashion theatre again for the 4th time ( 2 times for London and this is my second time for Birmingham) . It’s exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. There are about 40 dancers and models who need make up each morning plus various celebrity presenters and singers who need to come through my makeup area each day. The atmosphere backstage is hard to explain, other than its like an electric family circus. Although it’s hard work as we often have to put on 7 shows a day, it’s an amazing amount of fun. I’ve had a lot of creative control on the design of the makeup looks which were all created using Benefit cosmetics and applied with the help from my makeup assistants from AOFM. I went for a very colourful, bright and contoured look for the show.

A little dream of mine has always been to work on a makeup book, so when last year AOFM approached me to help collaborate on their book- Makeup is Art – I jumped at the chance. It was put together by creative directors – Lan Nquyen (William Tempest’s makeup artist) and Jana Ririnui (Head of education of AOFM) .. It’s more of a creative insight on how a makeup artist works and gets their ideas rather than a step by step how to manual on makeup. I think it’s a great resource for anyone interested in becoming a makeup artists or who is just interested in what we do.
It was fun but challenging coming up with a few concepts for the book. I tried to add a little interesting twist on each idea: for the 1950’s look I used the original Barbie Doll as a reference – making the model look almost plastic and over emphasising her top lip like the original Barbie’s. I added a splash of I Love Lucy into it too.
It only has been out a few short weeks but it’s doing really well. It’s available to buy at Charles Fox and Soho book store in London or at AOFM.

AOFM launched their book Makeup Is Art at London Fashion Week.

I was very fortunate to be asked by Lan Nguyen, creative director of Makeup Is Art, to write an article for the book on the relationship between the makeup artist and the stylist. Lan and I have worked together for many years on lots of different projects and we also work with William Tempest on his look books and shows.

The party was everything you expect a fashion party to be – endless glasses of champagne, with music by a cool DJ: Jody Harsh!
