Behind the Scenes of 3AM Video by Kate Nash

[vimeo 78339309 640 480] 3am was such a fun video to style. Most of the video was shot at The Renaissance Rooms in Vauxhall, it was the perfect location for a 70's roller disco! All the clothes were sourced from a variety of vintage shops and at Gemma Cairney's charity sale Rumble in the Jumble. I found some great pieces, including a red jumpsuit for Kate  Nash - which was quite exciting - having the right looks makes all the difference. You can never underestimate the power that clothing...

After the fashion show my team and I danced away to Mutya Buena, Siobhan Donaghy and Keisha Buchanan - MKS - the Sugar...

Fashion Intern – Interview

Over the past few years I've had several interns who've come from The University of Georgia - Athens, US for the summer. Most of the students have never been to London so it's quite an exciting experience for them. Megan interned with me for 5 to 6 weeks with this past summer and I wanted to share her experience with you. What did you expect London to be like? Before arriving in London, I did not have many set expectations.  The few things I knew were that there were many famous...

Kensington Palace Summer Garden Party

It was a perfect evening for the Kensington Palace Summer Garden Party. As you walked into the sunken garden we where served an Old Fashioned and then we headed off to the Orangerie were you could enjoy 50's British delicacies like Spam!  The dress code was 1950s glamour/palace chic, best frocks and sharpest suits, early Beatles vs Stones which gave the event a quintessentially quirky English feel. Etiquette tips and party tales took place on the palace lawn. You had your choice of...

Bloom Boots – Boots with speakers?

I quite like when technology and fashion come together but it's always a bit novel. Bloom.fm have created wellington boots with built in speakers and they're bluetooth enabled so you can connect to Bloom.fm and listen to music for up to 5 hours. In addition Bloom.fm has also created a free app, streaming radio stations for each of the major UK festivals, featuring artists from the line-ups. This might be fun way to share music with your friends in between bands or back at the camp site....

Underground – Shoes Sample Sale

Underground is a British footwear brand who makes authentic, rock 'n' roll-inspired shoes.  I've used them in shoots and put them on the feet of several musicians. I love the crazy colour combos of their shoes, that are bright and quirky. Underground’s original creepers were first worn by new romantics, goths and new wavers in Camden during the late 1980s. Since then the brand has continued to grow and develop while remaining true to its rebellious nature! It's hard to resist a...

Spitalfields Vintage Record Fair

Today I was at the Spitalfields Record Fair - it's good to know that people still buy records. I have several friends who are always buying records but they work in the music industry, so does that still count? Anyway, somehow it seems that people still want to buy records and it's nice to see the occasional artist still distributing their album on vinyl. The argument for print magazines is similar and there are still new magazines are being launched all the time even though many thought...

VV Brown at Birthdays in Dalston

I've always been a little awestruck by VV Brown. I did a shoot with her when she first appeared on the music scene in 2008 and he was so beautiful and friendly, it's not surprising that she been in Vogue, ID and was featured in fashion ads by Marks & Spencer as well. She also started her own business, VV Vintage, and modelled and performed for Ashish at his London Fashion Week show in February 2009. Her first album Travelling Like the Light was released in the UK in 2009. She is the most...

Kate Nash OMYGOD! Video – Behind the Scenes in LA

[youtube LZVkNcaOV9w&lis 640 480] For the most part my job is quite fun and last summer I went to LA with Kate Nash and shot 3 videos in just a couple of days! One of the video we shot was for the song OMYGOD! and it was shot on Malibu Beach and in a large house in Pasadena where we had a group of synchronized swimmers! OMYGOD! is from Kate Nash's 3rd album, Girl Talk. Kate is presently touring the US! Kate with director Aram...

Kate Nash’s New Album – Girl Talk – Launch Party!

I know I mention it quite a bit but I do love my job - and really what's not to love about music and fashion?! Yesterday was such an exciting day as it was the launch of Kate Nash's 3rd album Girl Talk! The launch party took place at St Martin's Lane in London - one of my favourite hotels, and we were given The Apartment on the top floor to get ready in - as expected it was quite a girly day. My assistant Victoria, Evan (Kate's hair & makeup artist) and I spent the late afternoon...

Behind the Scenes at Kate Nash’s 3am video

I styled Kate Nash's video for 3am and it was so much fun to style a 70's inspired video. In this picture is Kate and her band, from left to right: Linda Buratto, Fern Ford, Kate Nash and Emma Hughes. London's a great city to be in when styling these kinds of shoots because all the great vintage shops make it possible to do great prep! We shot some of the scenes at a Roller Disco in South London. Our fabulous makeup team from AOFM! Actress and model Emilyne...

Kate Nash’s 3am Single is out today!

I styled the video for for 3am and I'm so excited to see it - it's very 70's inspired and some of it was shot at a roller disco! Since then I have been dancing around my flat for weeks with partial clips of Kate Nash's new single 3am in my head. It's amazing and frustrating to have only a little bit of a song in your head that you love but you can't actaully listen to and I'm the kind of girl who can listen to the same song for hours. So I'm so happy that Kate Nash's new single 3am can...

Kate Nash at Bestival!

Having fun dancing away at Bestival to Stevie Wonder with Kate Nash. I was quite excited about this show as I'd made Kate a costume that was just for the Bestival as the theme was wildlife. We were quite inspired by the idea of a leopard in a jungle of sorts.  What an amazing evening! I  ran into fashion designer Amechi Ihenacho and his new bride Zinah while waiting for the ferry. Kate has beeen quite vocal about Pussy Riot and did this photo for Amnesty International...

Martine Rose SS13 Fashion Film

[vimeo 44722817] Love Martine Rose's fashion film - most fashion films are so boring and a bit pretentious but this film is just so cool. Martine presented her SS13 collection as part of London Collections: Men in June 2012. I love how she plays with proportion and size - you can easily imagine someone wearing these pieces. There is lots of bleached denim - even double denim with shades of orange and blue.  Catwalk photos by Christopher Dadey Cat Footware and Martine...

Punk’s Dead – Simon Barker Exhibition

Lately I've been obssessed with all things punk - which I think is actually because of the Queen's Jubliee and watching the Punk Britannia series. I recently when to the exhibition of Simon Barker's photographs from 1976-77 at the Divus Temporary Gallery on Wilkes Street. (in East London). It's just refreshing to see raw, uninhibited pictures of punk icons like Billy Idol and Siouxsie Sioux before they became...
