I just happened to pass by this crochet exibition. It’s not often that one comes across a crochet exibition – this is the first one I’ve ever seen and I just had to go in. It’s Olek’s first UK exibition as she’s based in New York. The exhibition took 6 months to prepare. You have to look closely to see all the objects as everything has a camouflage effect. It’s a small busy space with quite a provactative title "I do not expect to be a mother but I do expect to die alone".

Tony’s Gallery – 68 Sclater Street unitl March 23rd 2012. Wednesday through Sunday, 11am-7pm

Today at the All Saints’ press day you had the opportunity to have your nails painted, or you could try Nail Rock, which is a ‘nail wrap’ that’s very thin with prints that are quite cool and quirky. It also takes less than 15 minutes.
Nail art is like the new lipstick. Usually in a recession women buy lipstick but the trend has been to have fancier nails. It’s an easy way to update your look without spending much money.

I went to the Albion cafe on Boundary Street for breakfast. For some reason whenever I have the opportunity to order an individual pot of coffee I can’t resist and I have to order it. Even if I don’t really want coffee, I just want the experience of an individual pot of coffee. This pot was quite cute as it had that campfire reto feel with genuine burn marks.

I have always been fascinated by the history of quilting so I was quite excited when Jeff Garner of Prophetik told me there was going to be quilting in his AW 11 collection. When I learned that he was going to cut up his grandmother Lola’s 100 year old quilts I think my heart stopped for a moment, but Jeff was right to reycle them. Really, a quilt is made up of off cuts of fabric and worn dresses etc so it’s already been recycled once – so why not again? One of the pieces (the quilted jacket) is actually Jeff’s childhood quilt – even he found it amazing to see it on the catwalk!
I took the image above when I happened to be on a location shoot just outside london. The lady who owned the house makes quilts but she had to import her machine from the US as she couldn’t get one here.

Look out for Jenny Postle’s collection from Central St. Martin’s MA 2011 Show – loved her collection! This micro trend is growing fast and I think were going to be seeing more patchwork and quilting. Check out the Fashion and Textile museum as they are offering a quilting workshop!
