I love travelling so I was quite excited to visit Zurich for a few days and do a fashion shoot. Of course I never manage to see the city I’m in as I’m usually in a windowless studio but I did arrive during a snow storm and it was magical.

So it’s your final year at school and you’re graduating soon? What’s a girl to do? Well, take some advice from Hannah Almassi, the Fashion News and Features Assistant at Grazia UK. *       What did you study at school and where? I went to Nottingham Trent University which has a great art and design school.Continue reading

I don’t like to break the illusion of fashion. It’s beautiful, fun, even unobtainable; it’s the dream. I love fashion and everything about it. I’m not the kind of girl who skims a magazine – I read magazines cover to cover. I like things that are aspirational. It might be a beautiful photo shoot, orContinue reading

I’m really looking forward to styling Harriet’s Muse‘s show, Mind Your Manners. I’ve worked with Craig & Cheryl for several years and I just love what they do. Their Spring/Summer 09 collection is so beautiful and cool. The show’s only a few days away, it’s on Monday at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. It’s a challenge toContinue reading

My assistant and I were on our way to Top Shop where she’d been spotted by 2 girls from Elle Street Style looking for cool trendsetters. They thought Sana looks like Chloë Sevigny! How cool is Sana – she even has one green and one blue eye and they are so beautiful and of courseContinue reading

I recently met a fashion merchandising student who had graduated from university; she’d had never been in a fabric store and had no basic sewing skills. I know that you don’t have to be an expert sewer or pattern maker to be a designer or a buyer and maybe it doesn’t matter if you don’tContinue reading

Whoo, after lots of preparation the day has arrived for my fashion talk! There was lots going on during the presentation; me chatting away, a rail of inspiring clothes and quotes from fashion industry insiders about personal styling – I will post some of these quotes later. The room was quite pack, lots of peopleContinue reading

Yesterday’s shoot was all about Wonderful Hair. I’ve never had hair extensions and have never had the desire to have them – until today that is. I love how Yulia looks while waiting for her hair to be done. Most models bring a book or something, occasionally I’ve known models who knit to pass theContinue reading

Most stylists & their assistants know how to steam and iron. I love steamers. I’m not big on ironing but it’s important to know how to iron a shirt. If you can iron a shirt while it’s still slightly damp it will wrinkle less and look nice and crisp. On occasion I’ve used a shirtContinue reading

This is my new assistant on her first day! Stephanie’s visiting London for the summer. She’s from the States but would love to live in Europe. Being a fashion assistant is quite a bit of work. There are lots of errands to do and sometimes we have very short notice to prep a job, butContinue reading

I’ve had some really great fashion assistants over the years and for some odd reason, unknown to me they are often called Chloe or some form of Kate. Anyway my assistant Chloe is so hard working. She’s been running all over central London this week picking up and returning items. She has sore fingers fromContinue reading

This shoot was for Luxure Magazine. I was really happy to do a shoot for Luxure because I adore the Fashion Director, Alexia Somerville. She’s an amazing stylist and has a really good eye for spotting new talent. The shoot was about "The Ones To Watch" so we focused on several up-and-coming designers. The teamContinue reading

Coco is visiting from the US and she’s been doing work experience in London as part of her university program for the past three months. This is a picture of Coco steaming away at a photo shoot! Most fashion assistants don’t realize how much of the work takes place before and after the shoot. TheContinue reading

This shoot was great fun. We shot at Wasps Stadium in High Wycombe. I had never been to a rugby stadium so I was really looking forward to it. We lucked out and had good weather too! We had two professional rugby players, Sarah Marsh and Susan Cass and one model, Cassandra @ Bookings. OurContinue reading

A fashion assistant has to carry a lot of bags! This is my assistant in Topshop at Oxford Circus after several hours of shopping and still going strong!

Elana & Fraggle

I worked with hair and make up artist, Fraggle Jury. She has the cutest name ever! I asked her “So what does your mum call you?” she answered “Darling!”. She’s the cheekiest, hippest chic that I’ve met in a long time! Her quote for the day was “Sparkle, just a little more sparkle!” A fashionContinue reading
