University of East London Fashion Preview 2015 - "Process East"

imageMost often when I go to an event I have no idea of what to expect and tonight was one of those evenings. The University of East London exhibited the work of their graduate students 2015 from Print & Textile, Fashion Design and Fashion Digital for a private preview. The event had quite a buzz to it - it was a full house! The exhibition took place in East London at the Hoxton Archways, a very intimate and personal environment creating the perfect vibe to celebrate - it almost felt like a club night - it was a bit of sensory overload but a true celebration!I caught up with Dorota Watson, Head of Fashion and Textile. She's been quite busy for the past few days working with the selection committee for Graduate Fashion Week - can't wait to see the show at the end of May!  There are 41 fashion students but not all of them will show at GFW, so this exhibition gives all the students an opportunity to showcase their work - which is really important not just for the students personally but for industry people to see what's happening at UEL. The design students displayed their garments on rails, they created magazines to showcase their work and the print and textile students hung fabrics on walls and from the ceiling, while fashion films were projected on the back wall. Of course I found lots of garments that I want to use in my next shoot and a few things I'd like to wear, so it was a really inspiring evening!imageimageimageChecking out some of the new collection, can't wait to see them at Graduate Fashion Week!imageI love the texture and knit of this piece by Ivanka Hristova - Fashion DesignimageJake Gooden Fashion Designimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage
