Lulu Guinness Press Day SS14: ARM CANDY

imageLulu Guinness is one of my favourite brands and Lulu Guinness herself is cute as a button - it was delightful to meet her at her press day. The Covent Garden shop was transformed into an old school confectionery sweet shop a with colourful hard-boiled candy, stripped paper bags and balloons. Humbugs were one of the favoured sweets, inspiring perspex clasps and Guinness' iconic black and white stripes reworked in many different forms, from small pouches to everyday carrier bags. The new oversized tote in black and white squares is made locally, at a factory in Hackney, East London. My favourite handbag was the globe in neon pink and bright yellow perspex. I had the opportunity to speak to Lulu Guinness and she said that the globe was one of the most technically challenging bags - just getting the right size and all the mechanics of it, so that it opens in a way that things won't fall out and so that it's still small and practical enough that you can fit your mobile in it. The globe will  be available for SS14 at Gallery Layette. Lulu also mentioned that she's coming out with her own lipstick collection - she didn't say when but it looks like she has lots of surprizes in store for us!Lulu Guinness said that whenever she is traveling and passing through airports she always notices the handbags and the luggage that people are taking with them, what's important to them. She said it's one of the best places to see people and their handbags!imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage
