Afternoon Tea Wenlock - London's Offical Mascot

If you've been walking around London you've passed by these odd but charming characters. Wenlock and Mandeville are the London 2012 Olympic mascots. Wenlock is made of steel from a steelworks in Bolton and is named after the Shropshire town of Much Wenlock. It is thought that the Wenlock Games, founded around the mid 19th Century acted as a predecessor to the modern Olympic Games.

If you look carefully Wenlock's eye is a camera, and he has a taxi light on his head with his initial in it.On his wrist are Olympic rings worn as wristbands and the shape of Wenlcock’s head represents the three places on the podium!

There are more than 80 individually decorated statues of Wenlock and Mandeville. I love this one because what girl can resist afternoon tea!
