William Tempest – Autumn Winter 2010

Posted by Rebekah Roy on February 23rd, 2010

I just love working William Tempest. This is his third season at London Fashion Week, showing at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

The collection is beautiful, very red carpet and also easy to wear. Many of Wil’s dresses have a hidden corset so they nip you in at the waist – you feel strong, powerful, sexy…and yet slightly vulnerable…William’s designs are multi-dimensional in so many ways.

Prophetik backstage at London Fashion Week

Posted by Rebekah Roy on February 22nd, 2010

Backstage isn’t as crazy as people always think it is. Sometimes it’s quite calm and fun, and Prophetik was like this so I found styling their show to be a pleasure. The whole week was like this. The team had all come from Franklin, Tennessee at the beginning of the week. We had casting, fittings, rehearsal and even a sound check for the band.

This was Prophetik’s first London Fashion Week show. Even though they’d done lots of shows before, every show is new and exciting and this was no exception. We were opening Vauxhall Fashion Scout, and so naturally we had a band, a horse and a violinist!

Alex Box – Extraordinary Makeup

Posted by Rebekah Roy on February 21st, 2010

LondonFashionWeek Feb 10 AlexBox(1) Alex Box Extraordinary MakeupAlex Box is a rare talent. Lots of make up artists dream of doing cool, edgy colourful make up but they never quite succeed. It often can look over done, or try-hard or just plain wrong. It’s a very fine line bewteen what is beautiful and ugly. I’ve worked with Alex over the years and every show she worked on she takes the collection to the next level.

Whenever Alex was working backstage with her team you could hear a pin drop as they were hanging on her every word.

Check out  Illamasqua make-up, created by Alex Box and if you’re a makeup artist and need to be inspired it’s worth checking out Alex Box by Rankin.

I took this picture of Alex backstage at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

London Baby!

Posted by Leanne Bayley on February 19th, 2010

topshop London Baby!

It’s all kicked off in London. Fashion Week has begun and I for one am excited – it’s a good indication it’s going to be a goodun when Kate Moss takes her front row seat on Day 1.

I’m not sure about you but I was a little un-inspired with New York; I don’t recall being in awe or amazed with any particular collection or show. I was certainly not enthused with the standard of the amount of Z-listers taking up their VIP seats? Also, while we’re on the subject why were the front row ladies wearing teeny tiny dresses in -7 degree weather , with no tights, were they crazy?

Anyway enough about New York, London is where it’s at. Everything changes when the fash pack hit the big smoke. The heels are higher, the hair is perfectly coiffed and there’s not a black root in sight. Somerset House is crawling with stylish girls on the cobbles and there’s so much excitement in the air. And whilst LA girls are pretty clean living London girls love a good aftershow party – just ask the Geldofs.

Although London Fashion Week officially started today, for me Fashion Week begins tomorrow. Tonight the nails have been painted, the hair mask and face mask have been applied and the chosen outfit has been carefully selected.

So what’s exciting about tomorrow? Well I for one can’t wait for the Topshop Unique show just after midday. Last season we saw hair braids, rucksacks, neon pink lips, dirty denim and a definite sporty vibe to the spring summer collection. The front row wasn’t short of people to gawp at (Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo etc.) and whilst I’m not even sure why I’m such a big fan, the fact it’s the only catwalk collection I could ever possibly afford to buy plays a huge role.

I have a feeling I may need to start saving now…

P.S If anyone sees me around please come say hello.
