This was William’s second show at London Fashion Week – and backstage was calm and relaxed. We were very prepared – we all just wanted to do a good job and we loved the clothes, ooh and the bags – the models did too, which does make a difference. It’s true, it’s a models job to make the clothes look good but it’s just that much easier if the model feels good wearing them. Of course they liked the Bond Girl inspiration!

Fashion week is boot camp.
If you think about it, both gruelling activities require early starts, a huge amount of determination, the correct uniform, not to mention the physical and mental strength to get through each day.
It’s not easy this fashion world, dashing around from one place to the next, from show to show, party to party, it’s no mean feat let me tell you – especially when you’re wearing the tallest of shoes on a stupid cobbled surface.
So what have I loved about this fashion week? Seeing my style idol Olivia Palermo at the Topshop Unique show was definitely my high point. There she was, sitting with Alexa on the front row looking all gorgeous in her Topshop hero jacket, sequin shorts and Topshop boots and of course, her signature statement necklace. She looked very very skinny but I was so blinded by her sparkly gear I didn’t care.
I loved the Mulberry party, I was truly tired and my sugar levels were at an all time low but I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t go and I’m so glad that I did. I went with my two friends that I work with, Josie and Amy and we had a great time.
The party had a fairground theme and it was buzzing with glamorous people, I loved the celebrities that were piling in – posing for all the photographers like their lives depended on it. I loved the décor; pastel coloured balloons lined the walls and there were unicorn statues, a hook a duck game where you could win a leopard print mulberry Bayswater bag (I didn’t win) and our favourite thing of all – a candy floss stall.

We danced along to the friendly fires, we watched the glamorous girls preen and pose in the toilets and we ate lots and lots of candy floss. All in all it was a great night.
Now it’s all coming to an end, bar Mulberry of course. Hopefully we’ll be having Posh and the Olsen twins gracing us with their presence on the front row.
Me? Well tonight I’m going home, to tidy my room and say hello to the flatmate that must think she’s living with a stranger. Hey, I may even have a cup of tea and watch a couple of soaps. Ah the glamour of it all, but I do have a 5.50am wake-up call to look forward to.
No rest for the wicked…
xoxo

AOFM launched their book Makeup Is Art at London Fashion Week.

I was very fortunate to be asked by Lan Nguyen, creative director of Makeup Is Art, to write an article for the book on the relationship between the makeup artist and the stylist. Lan and I have worked together for many years on lots of different projects and we also work with William Tempest on his look books and shows.

The party was everything you expect a fashion party to be – endless glasses of champagne, with music by a cool DJ: Jody Harsh!

The other week the Beauty Team at Best Magazine and I took a little train trip up to Nottingham. We spent a few hours at there local Boots giving out fantastic product filled goodie bags in exchange for stoping women and asking them " What’s inside their makeup bags?" and if they had any makeup questions for me that I could problem solve.
I was kind of shocked at how many women had dirty makeup brushes, old sponges and dried up products in their makeup bags and then asked question like "why doesnt my makeup look as good as it should?" Hmmm ladies every where I implore you – clean out your makeup bags! Shampoo your dirty makeup brushes and buy yourself some clean new sponges. If your cosmetic is dry, crusty or smelly- chuck it out. You just need a little cosmetics common sense if you want it to look fresh. Good clean tools make for better makeup application. As a makeup artist I make sure all my tools are sterile and my makeup kit is constantly updated, fresh and hygienic – you all should too. Dirty makeup can lead to skin blemishes or even worse a cold sore or an eye infection!
I also had the chance to give some of the women I met mini make over lessons and some great advice- check out the Sept 22 issue of Best Magazine (UK) to read up on it.

I’ve been working with Jasper Garvida as his stylist: we shot a look book, made a video, had a press day and finally a presentation at On/Off this London Fashion Week! We had so much fun, for our presentation we had some of the girls that I worked with from Britain’s Next Top Model, Jasper was the winner of Project Catwalk 2008 so it was a great fusion of fashion tv and real live fashion!
I love working with Jasper not just because he’s such a great cook or Canadian but I just love his designs and how he works.
I know that I talk alot about how important the team is but it’s so true – you’re only as good as the weakest member – so it’s great when you have a strong team. Herman Ho at Headmasters did the hair direction and Rachel Wood did the makeup – but this show was about the entire team right down to marketing with the lovely Yukun Zhao! It’s like one big family.

In London Jasper studied Fashion Design at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design. After graduating, Jasper was head designer for Michiko Koshino Couture before moving to work on high-street brands from the Arcadia Group (Wallis, Miss Selfridge, Evans, Dunnes), Jane Norman, Monsoon, ASOS.com and River Island

My wonderful assistants, Amiee, Kimberly and Sana who haven’t stopped for a moment this week!!
