Hello Sailor! Charity Calendar for Doctors Without Borders

I often get asked to participate and offer my makeup artist services for charity events. I am a big believer in giving something back. What's the point of having a talent or skill if you can't use it for the greater good, right? So when I was approached by Calypso Harland to help out on a charity calendar she was designing, I got on board. Calypso left her job to participate in the 09/10 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and used it as a platform to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). MSF is an international medical and humanitarian aid organisation. It's also known as Doctors Without Borders. Calypso pulled all of her creative resources to put together a 1940s inspired pin up calendar. She even used her mates as the models!

I had a lot of fun making up her friends in the kitsch pin up style. Lots of lashes and shades of hot pink and crimson lipsticks were used. Best of all my Westie puppy King Louis who is usually by my side when working, ended up being photographed and is representing the month of May. Calypso recently had a party to launch the calendar on the boat HMS president. There was sailor fancy dress, burlesque dancers, a big bbq and faux tattoo's. If you want to donate to a great cause and get a fun 2010 calendar in return then check out Hello Sailor.
