The Future’s Bright…

I’ve decided that I need to embrace colour. Don’t get me wrong I don’t wallow in black all day long, nor do I wear muted grey hues when I feel a little on the ‘wacky’ side. But I don’t embrace colour like I ought to. Extreme colour is the way forward and it’s time I get on board.

Last night America’s biggest names were out to celebrate all things fashion at the CFDA Awards in New York City and although I’m thrilled for the big winners of the evening, namely the Rodarte sisters and Marc Jacobs. I was more excited to see what the celebrities wore to one of this years biggest fashion events.

Without a doubt my top three fab favorites were Diane Kruger, Ashley Olsen and Blake Lively who all showed up at the CFDA’s in explosions of colour. Diane in her red Jason Wu dress made me want to scream with jealousy, not only does she have the gorgeous Joshua Jackson to call her own, she also looks amazing all the bloody time. Not fair.

Diane presented the awards so no doubt she knew she had to wow. The red mini is made special by black embroidered shoulder details and a sleek black belt. Black satin sandals, a smart clutch and layered bracelets all equal a total wow outfit.

Ashley Olsen never disappoints, the sequin detail on her tangerine dress is exquisite. The messy hair, the intricate gold jewellery and nude glossy lips finishes the look just right.

Blake Lively has a tendency to look a little too styled at these types of events, but last night she looked brilliant. The hot pink Michael Kors dress is perfect for her body shape and the pockets make the overall look more relaxed. And we all know that a pair of nude satin Louboutins doesn’t go a miss.

So, from this moment on I will embrace colour, I will be brave. My outfits will consist of fruity palettes only.Black will be banished to the back of my wardrobe… Until Winter, or until I’m having a really bad fat day perhaps.

XOXO
