Michelle Obama wearing a St Erasmus Necklace
Posted by Rebekah Roy on May 18th, 2009
I love when a celebrity or public figure wears a hidden gem. It’s so easy to play it safe and chose a well known designer. I think you have to have true style and confidence to wear something just because you like it, and I think it’s great because naturally I want all the small designers I know to become big designers.
Michelle Obama has been wearing everyone from Michael Kors to Jason Wu (he designed her inaugural gown - he’s only 26 and had no idea Mrs. Obama was going to wear the gown until he saw it on TV) and now Pieter Erasmus’ necklace!
Pieter Erasmus is the designer behind ST•ERASMUS. He has cultivated a style which combines traditional techniques with contemporary forms and materials. His designs are steeped in cross-cultural inspiration, an african-european fusion. Pieter has designed jewellery for Givenchy, Matthew Williamson and Roberto Cavalli. I really like his braclets as they have a vintage inspiration but also feel very modern.
