Mannequin Etiquette?

Posted by Rebekah Roy on January 21st, 2009

Image links to wikipedia's article on mannequins, which is actually quite interesting!I can’t figure out if it’s okay to grab a mannequin by the breasts or neck. The breasts are actually very well placed and they’re the safest handles to use when grabbing the mannequin from behind and twisting the mannequin’s torso to remove it from the legs, yet it feels a little inappropriate…and twisting the mannequin from the neck works well but it just feels wrong…

    It’s true!

One of the girls I used to work with back in my H&M days named all the full length mannequins and I’m not sure if it made it better or worse…

If you stand from the front, you can kind of put your hands round their waist and twist them off that way…but again, massively weird :)

My biggest problem was always getting their arms back on, they’re always at such stupid angles!

Ha so funny and so true. I always go for armpits then give up and succomb to breast area!

I kind of know what you mean but I don’t really mind. They are made of plastic after all!

I definately agree about the arms and the weird angles though!

I’ve dressed manequines before and prior to doing so I thought it was the most easist job if someone can put some looks together! After dressing 10 mannequines one night I realized that it is one of the most labor intensive aspects of fashion!! WOW! its work!
