Chanelle

Posted by Rebekah Roy on October 25th, 2007

I love location shoots. This house was a huge box and very cool – it was open concept with lots of light, height and space. Actually it felt very Canadian even though it was in London! We were shooting Chanelle, she’s great fun & super cute.Rebekah Roy & Chanelle

There was a very friendly yet unassuming, slightly chubby cat living in the house!

This is Chanelle with her make up artist Lisa. Lisa loves blush more than anything and she’s given me some great make up. She’s promised me false eyelashes next time!!

Perks!

Posted by Rebekah Roy on October 24th, 2007

I worked with hair and make up artist, Fraggle Jury. She has the cutest name ever! I asked her “So what does your mum call you?” she answered “Darling!”. She’s the cheekiest, hippest chic that I’ve met in a long time! Her quote for the day was “Sparkle, just a little more sparkle!
A fashion assistant works very hard so it’s good to get the occasional perk! My assistant, Elana is big on skin care so she’s able to ask professionals like Fraggle any questions she has. It’s always great to get your make-up tips from a professional make-up artist!

Balenciaga & Browns

Posted by Rebekah Roy on October 23rd, 2007

I went to see the Balenciaga Spring 2008 preview at Browns. It’s so fun to drink champagne and eat rose petal flavour macaroons from La Durée. Who says fashion isn’t a nice life – well actually nobody does! Anyway fashion is great, of course it’s greater if you have more money, but don’t we say that money can’t buy style? But honestly, with the team at Browns, it doesn’t matter if you have no style at all, you just have to have enough money and you’ll come out looking so good – just ask for Marcio. It used to really bother me when I was a teenager that some people could just go out and buy style, but now it doesn’t bother me at all. I like that anything can be bought or taught, and on a certain level I believe that style can be taught.
So how does this collection work? Well the colour palette is divided between North America and Europe. At the preview Browns only has the samples belonging to this side of the ocean. However if you like a garment in a print that sells in North America, at this particular moment in time you can order it and you can have any combination that you’d like. Not all these looks will be sold in Browns: many of the looks will sell out before they ever even hit the shop floor!

Are sunglasses the new handbag?

Posted by Rebekah Roy on October 22nd, 2007

Sunglasses can change an outfit in an instant and they’re not just for the summer months. Whenever I go on a trip I tend to buy a pair of sunglasses – it’s part of my Heathrow routine and I’m very thrown off when I have to depart from Gatwick. At first I didn’t really like wearing sunglasses: I felt like I was hiding something but now I wear a pair of Burberry Quilted Check sunglasses almost every day. I never leave the house without them. It’s not so much vanity or even fashion, I just don’t like the sun in my eyes.

Mulberry Gold Handbag obssession

Posted by Rebekah Roy on October 20th, 2007

I was never really a girl who liked gold or silver things but girls in the UK are just a bit more sparkly than in Toronto, so it’s beginning to rub off on me. I was at a Mulberry event and saw this great big gold handbag. I could fit so many things in it…I could also pay several months’ rent instead. As you already know I’d never ever wear anything fake, but that’s another story…

Right afterwards I saw a girl in the train station with a big gold bag. Hm, maybe some silver shoes…
