Ok. So every job has it’s draw backs. Most people don’t know that stylists run around all day picking up and returning garments. Carry heavy bags all over the place & taking suitcases in and out of cars. My styling injury, nothing a little acupuncture can’t heal!

Been quite busy lately. Spent last weekend in Dorset. I was doing a sportswear shoot in a field. As you know I prefer the city but I do love sports/fitness wear; the fabrics can be so inovative, it’s amazing to think how fabic/technology has influence athletic performance. In 1954 the German Nation Team won the Football World Cup for the first time, wearing Adidas shoes with revolutionary screw-in studs. 450,000 pairs of shoes were produced in that year!
I didn’t stay at a grand hotel this time but it was so quaint. I stayed at a neighbours house (who I didn’t know but the photographer did) and our room looked like it was at someones Nan’s house, which it probably was as the old lady was very sweet. It looks cuter than it was, but I slept well. I shared the room with Athena Skouvakis an mua; I worked with her ages back so it was good to meet up with her again. It felt like a sleep over! It’s such a girly room.

I woke up to the mooing!

Misha, our model was so much fun. She studied gymnastics and specialized using the ribbon, it was beautiful to watch her using it, it has such a magical, whimsical feel about. I’ve watched it on TV before it’s such so much more beautiful to watch it in front of you.

I went to Buckinghamshire for a shoot. Some of my shoots are with real people, some with models. And yes, there is a distinction between models and real people. Models tend to have a realistic self perception as they are used to seeing picture of themselves and what they really look like. This particular shoot was with a real women for a newspaper; newspapers & weeklies often send out a team to photograph someone for a story/feature that they are writing about.
Sometimes it’s very difficult for a "real" person to do a photoshoot. You have to think about what you really look like. And maybe you wouldn’t be doing the shoot if you didn’t want to look at your self…? Anyway, your body might have changed, and of course it changes it’s not stagnant! Your perception become out of sync with what you really look like, or with your memory of what you think you looked like. And for some reason you think you’re bigger then you are and you’ve been dressing for this bigger person for a while. Some women have fun at these shoots, it’s like a girly pampering day, an opportunity to have a professional make artist & stylist for an afternoon. We styled one women who was about a size 20UK and she looked amazing, she had that effervescent, bubbly personality that you just want to be around and of course she looked lovey in the shoot and we all had great fun. Another day we styled a size 16UK women, which is a very average size who had many self perception/body/style issues. She said she’d gained wait over the sometime and only wore baggy clothes. I think sometimes we are afraid of fashion we don’t understand what a powerful postive tool it can be…I guess sometimes I find it frustrating that women face so many selfesteem issues and have misconceptions about their bodies.
In the middle of nowhere asking firemen for directions…
One thing I do like about these shoots is traveling to some very picturesque places.

Saw this cafe while on my way to meet some friends in Soho. It looked quite cute inside, you could smell the coffee and they had lots of pin up girl postcards!

Ok, so it’s hard to find a pair of jeans. It’s all about fit, finding the right pair for your body shape and at a price within your budget is truly a challenge.
While waiting for the tube, I saw this person on the platform. You might think she looks ok, tight jeans nice big butt, it appeals to some people. Hmm but then you realize it’s a man. Ewwww what was he thinking squeezing himself into those jeans! I just feel a bit shocked when I see people dressed like this. There are so many choices & options for people to dress well, what happened?
